Our Classroom

Our facility is designed to provide a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for your child's early education.

Key Features of Alpaquitas School:

  1. Spacious Classroom: Our bright and spacious classroom is thoughtfully designed to promote creativity, exploration, and active learning.

  2. Secure Environment: Your child's safety is our top priority. Our facility has a closed garden for your peace of mind.

  3. Engaging Outdoor Play Area: Our 500 m2 outdoor play area allows children to enjoy fresh air and physical activity while under careful supervision.

  4. Dedicated Staff: Our experienced and caring staff are passionate about early childhood education and are here to support your child's growth and development.

Our classroom has various play centers including:

  • Dramatic Play: At first glance, this might look like a pretend kitchen, but the teachers are thoughtful about the materials represented in this area to extend the children's learning. Sometimes, the dramatic play area is transformed into something completely different than a kitchen, but fitting for the current classroom theme. For example, during the Community helpers unit, teachers might convert the dramatic play center into a firestation or a doctors office.

  • Block Area: This area provides opportunities for problem solving, mathematical reasoning, creativity, and exploration. While children are learning to build and manipulate the different building materials, teachers purposefully provide elements of the current theme to be incorporated into the building.

  • Science Center: In this area, the children will find magnifying glasses, a microscope, animals from different habitats, gears and real bugs.

  • Art and Writing Table: Each day, there is an art activity for the children related to the current theme. These student-led projects meet each child at their level and allow them to be comfortable with different materials and techniques. In this area, children are encouraged to strengthen their fine motor skills, where they will find playdough, crayons, scissors, glue and different writing implements. This independent exploration allows children to take ownership of their early writing skills.

  • Library: Books have significance in Alpaquitas school. Our classroom has a bookshelf with thematic books for the children to use independently or with a teacher. Even before they can read, children engage with the images on the pages to create a narrative. Alpaquitas has books in Spanish and English, as well as bilingual books.

  • Sand Table: Sand table allows children in Alpaquitas to learn with hands-on materials and take in new information through their senses.  These sensory experiences can assist some children with calming down their bodies. The sand table also introduces higher-level thinking concepts like volume.

  • Table Toys: Children can learn a lot from manipulatives and table toys. In Alpaquitas, in addition to fine motor coordination, children learn math skills such as matching, classifying, putting things in order according to size, comparing sizes, recognizing shapes, and seeing patterns.
